How To Solve Climate Change?

Precautionary Measures

Safeguarding our earth against Climate change cannot be done alone by one person or organization; rather it requires the cooperation, support and help of all people or governments united together for a noble cause. Here are some ways in which we can help in it:

  • Don't Over-Exploit: We can exploit much less water resources if we use water efficiently. While brushing or cleaning, never turn on tap unnecesarily; use bucket-and-mug to water plants and wash cars instead of pipes; fix leaking taps etc. are a few ways to do this.

  • Promote Climate Awareness: We should try to raise awareness about climate change and its impacts as much as we can among relatives, friends and parents, and about the need for sustainable practices in our society.

  • Encourage Reforestation: We must support afforestation and reforestation efforts to increase green cover of trees and plants. This enhances the oxygen content in atmosphere, ability to retain rainwater and groundwater, prevents soil erosion due to the roots of the trees and prevents floods.

  • Rainwater Harvesting Systems: We can install rainwater harvesting systems at the community or individual levels to recharge groundwater. This reduces our strain on water resources for domestic purposes during the dry season, leading to natural flow of water cycle.

  • Disaster Management: Community or organization-based disaster management programs, including mock drills like held in our school, should be encouraged. This helps to teach people about the essential knowledge and skills to handle emergencies like flood.

  • Efficient Waste Management: We should implement proper waste management systems in our daily life, like by using blue-colored dustbin for dry and green-colored dustbin for wet waste, and never littering, to prevent clogging and reducing the risk of floods.

  • Reduce Carbon Footprint: Using public transportation or car-pooling, turning off excessive lights, using power-saving LEDs etc. helps to reduce carbon footprint at a personal level.
